Environmental Policy

Caterers Choice is committed to reducing the impact our business has on the environment, although our contribution is fairly limited, as we do not have any manufacturing capability. We are extremely keen when sourcing our products to work only with manufacturers who are mindful of Environmental Issues and pro-active in reducing their impact on the world. Caterers Choice recognises that we can have some input into reducing packaging waste by carefully examining the packaging that is used on our own label product range. We will always strive to achieve the minimum amount of packaging required in order to ensure product safety and durability and maintain product traceability.

Where product is used for further processing such as sandwich manufacturers we have worked with our customers to minimise the packaging used. For example canned product has all the relevant information ink-jetted on the can, eliminating the need for product labels. We are keen to pack all of our product into cardboard cases rather than using trays shrink-wrapped with polythene. We are currently in discussion with our suppliers regarding the use of re-cycled cardboard.

We recognise that our biggest impact on the environment is through the distribution of our products and in this area we have worked closely with our distribution partner to limit the effect that our vehicles have on the environment.

All the vehicles that are used by the company are Euro class 4 to ensure minimum fuel emissions.

The re-cycling of waste materials has been extensively studied and as a result all cardboard and paper is re-cycled as well as engine oil and vehicle tyres. All waste is disposed of responsibly using registered Waste Management companies.

The routing of vehicle is always carefully considered to ensure optimum capacity of the vehicle and minimum mileage.

Caterers Choice is very aware of its responsibility as an importer/supplier to minimise the impact of its operation on the environment and we will endeavour to continually review our business and implement any future initiatives that we feel will be beneficial to the cause.
